As enshrined in our mandate the DVLA was exists to promote good driving standards and ensure the use of road worthy vehicles on the road in other public places.

The road is shared by all classes of road users which include amongst others the following:
• People without Driving License, Drivers with little experience and inadequate knowledge of rules of the road.
• Drivers driving vehicles above the class of license they hold
• People driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs

Upon acquisition of driving license, purchase of motor vehicle or being employed to drive, you must know what your responsibilities and obligations are with regard to driving on the road and use of motor vehicle and trailer

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority was established by the Driver and Vehicle License Authority Act 1999, Act 569
Our mandate is to promote good driving standards and ensure the use of roadworthy vehicles on the road and public places.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority provide a wide range of driver licensing and vehicle testing and enforcement services with the aim of ensuring the following:
• Competent, skillful and knowledgeable Drivers drive the road
• Road worthy vehicles use the road and public place
• Compliance of Drivers and operators of motor vehicles with road traffic act and regulations
