ROAD WORTHINESS
All motor vehicles used on the road shall be examined to determined:
- hat they conform to the prescribed requirements relating to the construction and use of the vehicle, its accessories and other equipment.
- That the condition of the motor vehicle is such that its use on the road will not involve a danger or injury to any person or damage to property.
- All vehicles must be physically inspected before roadworthy certification
- Examination shall be conducted every six months in respect of commercial vehicles and once every year in respect of private vehicles.
- Security agencies whose vehicles have been registered by DVLA are also required to pay the statutory fees for roadworthiness. Only vehicles registered by the security agencies themselves e.g. Police, Military, Fire Service and Prison Service are exempted.
- Roadworthy inspection initiated at a particular office should be completed at the same office

- Present expired vehicle roadworthy certificate
- Present vehicle
PROCEDURE
- Present vehicle documents, expired roadworthy certificate, and vehicle for inspection
- Pay prescribed fees
- Inspect vehicle according to check list
- Fill VRC (if new)
- Issue sticker when vehicle pass inspection
DUPLICATE VRC
REQUIREMENTS
- Physical presence of vehicle owner/authorized agent
- Police extract (where vehicle documents are lost)
PROCEDURE
- Where a Customer Misplaces his/her VRC and Needs a duplicate, s(he) must produce vehicle particulars
- Authentification of vehicle particulars
- Payment of prescribed fee
- Check the sticker for date of expiration and complete VRC
