ACQUISITION OF NEW DRIVERS’ LICENSING
A Learner’s driving license has to be acquired for a period of three (3) months before the license can be applied for. Applicants must be 18years or above.
POLICY
- Application must be physically present
- Basic qualification – BECE or ability to show some literacy knowledge in reading and writing
- Applicant must be 18 years or above
- Class of first time shall be "A", "B", or "E"
REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant must be 18 years or above – (request for birth certificate/voters ID/passport/affidavit as proof when in doubt of an applicant’s age)
- General assessment (physical and mental) further medical examination may be required when necessary.
- Eye test
- 2 passport size photograph
PROCEDURE
- Conduct general assessment e.g. physical deformities, health status etc, when satisfactory continue with the procedure
- Payment of approved learner Driver’s License fees
- Issuance of high way codes, L-Plate, Syllabus, Learners cards (learner license is valid for 3 months)
- Filling of forms (i.e. F,F1 , learner card)
- Applicant undergoes eye test
- Appointment for test (Theory Test and Road Signs Test)
- When successful, appointment and payment for in-traffic test
- Payment for temporal license & photo
- Issuance of temporal license
- Collection of license within 3 month (Unsuccessful applicants are referred for re-test at a specified date)
